Stahls' CAD-Printz Applications Make Decorating Easy

Sept 26, 2008

Stahls Cad Printz
Stahls' CAD-Printz Digital Transfers are formulated to stretch and stick to virtually any fabric, making them ideal for athletic apparel.
Personalization continues to be one of the biggest trends in apparel decoration. “The demand for custom words and phrases on garments and full-color designs and graphics has increased tremendously,” says Cara Cherry, public relations and advertising, Stahls’ ID Direct, St. Clair Shores, Mich. “In addition, we’re noticing people wearing garments originally intended just for sports both on and off the field.”

Decorating stretchy sports apparel requires designs that can stretch and recover, and also offer long wear and great wash ability. The company’s CAD-Printz Digital Transfers are formulated to stretch and stick to virtually any fabric. Decorators just send their artwork to Stahls’ ID Direct and the company produces the transfers.

CAD-Printz Text Effects allow decorators to create unique, custom text in one heat application. Customers create their designs by selecting from a variety of layouts, fonts, colors and fill effects using the online CAD-Printz Design Wizard. It includes more than 110 colors and 20 different patterns such as chrome, camouflage, polka dots and animal prints.

“We’ve noticed a trend toward more light-weight garments, which has led us to develop materials and media for graphics that are thinner and feature a softer hand after heat application,” Cherry says. “Also, we have seen more detailed designs using a variety of embellishments.” The company’s CAD-Cut Fashion-Film, available in 21 colors, is extremely thin and lightweight, making it ideal for creating fine details. – H.H.
